Lakeside kept up the pressure on Elite League leaders Poole with a 47-43 victory in a tight contest at basement side Wolverhampton on Monday night.

Sweden's Jonas Davidsson led the way with a paid maximum from five rides while excellent support from Adam Shields (10+2) and reserve Ricky Kling (10+1) ensured the Hammers left the Midlands with three points.

The hosts had the better of the opening exchanges with three maximums in the first five heats, but Davidsson and Kling teamed up for successive 4-2s while in Heat 10 it was Shields who followed Davidsson home to bring the visitors level for the first time.

Freddie Lindgren (12) stood firm for Wolves, winning two of the last three heats, but guest Ed Kennett - standing in for Andreas Jonsson - finally got on the scoresheet to fill second place on both occasions after Shields and Kling clinched the go-ahead 5-1 in Heat 12.
