Poole Pirates are firm favourites to seal a place in the Knockout Cup final after claiming a 45-45 draw at holders Coventry in the first leg of their semi-final clash.
The Bees were tracking debutants Hans Andersen and Filip Sitera - but as has been the case so often this season, Poole spoilt the party with a stunning team display.
Andersen did lead his side home on his home debut with 12 points, whilst Simon Stead (10+1) and Chris Harris (10) both delivered.
But the lower end struggled for The Bees with Sitera suffering a suspected broken knuckle.
Captain Bjarne Pedersen continued his good form with 12 to match countryman Andersen, and Poole even managed with a big score from Chris Hodler who could only grab 6+1.
Magnus Zetterstrom (8+2) and Davey Watt (7) provided good back-up but there were few weak links in the Poole line-up.
"In my eyes Poole are by far the best team in the Elite League at the moment, with the confidence that eight straight wins breeds," said Bees boss Peter Oakes.
"To pull it back the way we did makes it a one-off Cup-tie which is not a bad position to be in - we know exactly what we've got to do, we've got to go there and win.
"Filip has a suspected broken knuckle, we hope that isn't the case, but if it is then we're almost back to square one, but we'll know more in the next couple of days."
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
