Bridger: Second chance
Eastbourne Eagles have announced that Lewis Bridger will be remaining with the club.
The Sky Sports Elite League outfit stated earlier this week that British starlet Bridger was to be sent on loan to the Premier League for the rest of the season.
Co-promoter Martin Hagon had taken the action after ordering Bridger out of the pits following Eastbourne's home defeat to Ipswich at the weekend.
Hagon was left furious with the 18-year-old and said: "I don't think it would be a bad idea for Lewis to drop into the Premier League.
"He might realise how fortunate he is. I don't think he appreciates the situation he is in as a speedway rider or the help that his mechanic David Mason gives him.
"This would be a short term step backwards to go forwards.
"We are thinking about the future. Maybe this is the shock Lewis needs.
"It has now been confirmed to me he did not get in until 7am on Saturday morning.
"He also missed the team track walk. He did not get there until we were walking back into the pits."
Eastbourne were also looking for a new signing to replace Bridger - but the club have now gone back on their threat and confirmed that he will be staying put.
