Holder: GP ambition (Pic credit Les Aubrey)
Australian star Chris Holder has played down talk of him being handed a place in next season's Grand Prix series.
Poole promoter Matt Ford and team boss Neil Middleditch have both called on the SGP authorities to hand Holder one of their wild card berths for next season.
Because Holder is from Australia, who do not currently host a GP, he not yet performed on the highest stage of the sport as wildcards for each event are reserved for the home authorities to choose and they always pick one of their own riders.
Holder, though, does not feel he will be contention for one of the four places up for grabs in the 2009 series despite the massive impact he has made on the Sky Sports Elite League in his first season since moving up from the Premier League.
"It's alright to beat a GP guy now and then, but they go up to a different level in the GPs," he told the Bournemouth Echo.
"It's not easy racing regularly at that level, and I'm not interested if I do or not at the moment.
"You need to spend a lot more time and money to be competitive in the GP and I don't think I'll be that competitive yet.
"I might win a couple of races but I don't think I can spend all that money. It's probably better to wait a couple of years and hopefully get in it then.
"If they wanted to give me a wild card I would take it. I'd snap their hand off. But to do the whole GP would be very hard because I still don't have a set up to do that."
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.

If the F.I.M have to choose 4 wild cards for the forthcoming 2009 season, maybe it is about time to refresh Britains interest in the higher reaches of the sport. If Scottie Nicholls doesn't make the top 8 this time round he should step down gracefully and admit to himself and to everyone else, he can't cut the mustard at the very highest level. Brilliant rider in his own right, but has failed year in year out to show the potential he undoubtedly has. If you want and injection of youth and exuberance to cheer at Cardiff next year, give our best young talent for many a year - Tai Woffinden - a chance to get his teeth into the big boys. Chris Harris deserves another crack, bike set up and lousy starting is his major downfall.

Chris Holders remarks in referance to being unable to compete with the G. P.Boys, not only in their abilities but in the cost of the equipment they use ,certainly underlines what most of us have said. The G.B.team was a disgrace, as is the two Brits in the G.P,s Withdraw before you make us the laughing stock of the Speedway world, ,
