A stunning home debut from Tomasz Jedrzejak helped Lakeside to a comfortable 58-32 win over Wolverhampton.
The title-chasing Hammers had just brought Jedrzejak into their side and he immediately showed his liking for Purfleet by claiming a paid maximum.
The win was all too comfortable for Lakeside - who only had three lasts in the 15 heats, and those came from one retirement and two falls.
Number one Andreas Jonsson looked imperious in his first four rides, but he followed that up with two falls - but that was to no avail as there we no weak-links for Lakeside.
Home favourite Leigh Lanham (11+3) continued his excellent form of late, whilst Rory Schlein (7+2), Ricky Kling (6+2) and Kauko Niemenen (9+2) were all good.
Bottom of the table Wolves were never on the pace and their hopes of gaining anything from the evening were hit by Niels Kristian Iversen crashing out of the meeting in only his second outing.
With the GP star, Wolves could not cope. Their top-scorer Freddie Lindgren managed just paid nine which summed up their evening.
Lakeside are now just two points adrift of leaders Poole Pirates.
