Coventry relinquished their grip on the Knockout Cup as they lost 54-38 at home to Poole Pirates.
Riding straight after their league clash with Wolves, Coventry were hamstrung by the fact Olly Allen crashed out of the first meeting.
They were able to bring in Wolves' Jesper B Monberg as replacement - under protest from Poole - but in the end it had little impact as The Bees were blown away by the South Coast giants.
The tie was being replayed after the two drew their first two-legged encounter, but there was no repeat this time around as Coventry never looked like overcoming the 20-point deficit from the first-leg.
Coventry were not helped by engine problems to top two Hans Andersen (10+1) and Chris Harris (10) - but they still both managed double figures, although that was as good as it got for the Brandon side.
Poole were just too strong at the top with Chris Holder (11+1), Davey Watt (11), Magnus Zetterstrom (10+2) and Bjarne Pedersen (10+1) all delivering the goods.
Poole now face Eastbourne Eagles in the two-legged final. With Poole also in the Craven Shield final - The Pirates are still on course for a domestic treble.
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
