British star Lee Richardson is considering quitting the Elite League and concentrating on continental racing.

Richardson, who missed out on a return to the Grand Prix series last week, has revealed that he is looking at his options.

Richardson already races on a regular basis in Sweden and Poland and he could add Russia to his league commitments rather than race in Britain.

"England is more similar to the Danish League nowadays than it is to the Swedish and Polish leagues," he told the Speedway Star.

"In terms of crowds and the level of competition, it's not even close.

"The Polish and Swedish leagues are awesome - you have third heat-leaders over here who are reserves or can't even get a place over there.

"Seven years ago England had a really tough league, now it is not even close."

A host of big names already opt not to ride in the Elite League, with Tomasz Gollob and world champion Nicki Pedersen amongst those who turned their back on the league in recent years.
