Swindon skipper Leigh Adams insists The Robins will make an even better push for the Sky Sports Elite League title next season.

The Wiltshire outfit shocked many this year after making the play-offs after many tipped them for a relegation fight.

But they fell at the final hurdle when they lost out to Lakeside Hammers in the play-off semi-final on Monday.

Adams, though, insists Swindon can look back and be proud of their season.

"It's been a pretty constructive year really, considering everyone wrote us off at the start," Adams told the Swindon Advertiser.

"To be in this position is fantastic, but obviously if we had a home draw it would have been a totally different ball game.

"But all in all it's been fantastic - everyone wrote us off at the start and we fought back and were top of the league for a long time. We just messed up a little bit near the end."

Batchelor back?

Adams also suggested that The Robins, who have already secured Jurica Pavlic's services for next year, had agreed terms for Australian Troy Batchelor.

"It's been a great year," said Swindon's captain. "It's been exciting and we've had a lot of good lads there, and for me it's been pretty rewarding trying to get to where we are with pretty inexperienced guys.

"But next year we'll come back bigger and better. We've got a great base to a team now with Jurica, Troy and myself and we'll just try to build on that.

"It's a learning curve for the young riders, big time."
