Lakeside Hammers have confirmed the signing of Pole Krzysztof Jablonski on the eve of the Elite League Grand Final.
The Hammers needed to find a replacement for Czech reserve Lubos Tomicek - who ruled himself out of the rest of the season.
They would have normally brought in number eight Kauko Nieminen, but he broke his collarbone last week.
Now with the first leg of the Grand Final on Monday - live on Sky Sports 2 - The Hammers have signed former Wolverhampton man Jablonski.
The 31-year-old, who won the European crown in 2006, has agreed to come in and fill the void and will ride machinery provided by Australian star Jason Crump.
"This is the final roll of the dice for us," said team boss Jon Cook.
"We wanted to line up in the Final without guests and that's what we have done.
"I have moved Jonas (Davidsson) to second string to take the pressure off him on his comeback a little and I think Krzysztof will be a considerable gain in the second leg over Tomicek, although he will do well to match Lubos' or Kauko's (Nieminen) home scoring.
"The Final will be decided over 30 heats, not 15, and we need to have something extra at Wimborne Road even if it means sacrificing points at home."
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
