Wolverhampton have all-but booked their place in the 2009 Sky Sports Elite League after outclassing Premier League champions Edinburgh Monarchs 53-37 in the first-leg of the promotion-relegation race-off.

Wolves travelled to Armadale knowing this would be the tougher of the two legs, but they made light work of the Monarchs - who could not live with their Elite League opponents.

American Ryan Fisher (14) and guest Chris Schramm (7+3) did their best but there was just no strength in-depth for the Scottish side.

Wolves, on the other hand, were just too strong with four riders hitting double figures.

Jesper B Monberg top-scored with 14, whilst David Howe (12+1), James Grieves (10+4) and captain Freddie Lindgren (10+1) all powered their way to big scores.

The return, which appears a total formality, is at Monmore Green on Monday.
