Poole Pirates are ready to bring in two new signings to replace injury victims Jason Doyle and Kyle Legault.

Australian Doyle has flown home to Australia for an operation on his shoulder and now Canadian Legault also looks set for a extended spell on the sidelines.

He suffered a broken leg last season whilst riding in the Premier League with Birmingham, but he has agitated the problem before the new season has even begun.

"Basically it will take two to three months to finish healing," he said.

"He doesn't understand why I'm getting more pain now than I was before, so I need to get a CT scan to get a closer look.

"That will take up to four weeks to organise whereas I could go home to Canada and get one sooner, but there are no guarantees."

Changes

Poole chief Matt Ford is now set to make changes to his starting VII.

"As a club we can only take the advice of the doctors and they have stated Kyle won't be riding and shouldn't be riding for the next couple of months," said Ford.

"It has been hard for the specialists to work out exactly what is wrong with his leg until he has had a CT scan, and he has been told that will take a long time.

"He does need to have the CT for them to see clearly what the problem is.

"The X-ray they've taken is not giving them enough information.

"We have 10 days until our next fixtures against Eastbourne on Good Friday to look at things, but clearly I need to have riders that are fit to race.

"I can't have riders riding 50 per cent fit. You have to be 100 per cent fit.

"I think the inevitable is that Kyle will have to have a prolonged period of absence.

"That may mean we have to re-declare the team. We still hope to have a change or changes before April 10."
