Pedersen: 13 points
Poole Pirates produced a dramatic final heat comeback to snatch a draw from their Elite League clash at Lakeside on Monday night.
The visitors trailed 44-40 heading into heat 15, but Bjarne Pedersen and Chris Holder teamed up to snatch a dramatic 5-1 to ensure honours ended even at 45 points all.
It was just reward for the Pirates who defied their lowly league status to put in a strong performance, especially in the early part of the contest.
It was their top-scorer Bjarne Pedersen (13 points) who got the ball rolling as he beat home captain Lee Richarson to set up a Poole 4-2 in the first heat of the night.
He repeated the trick in the third heat and when Holder led home a 4-2 in the fourth they led 14-10.
Jonas Davidsson finally claimed the Hammers' first heat win in the fifth of the evening and when Richardson stormed home in the next they pulled level at 18-18.
But the encounter remained nip-and-tuck with no team able to open a decisive lead at any point.
Richardson and Joonas Kylmakorpi combined for 4-2 in heat ten that edged Lakeside four clear, but Poole hit straight back to level matters once again as Joe Screen and Holder came up with a timely 5-1.
Lakeside looked to have done enough as Davidsson and Stuart Robson earned them a four-point advantage going into heat 15, but Pedersen and Holder (11 points) had other ideas and kept Davidsson and Richardson at bay to earn a share of the spoils.
Elsewhere, basement boys Belle Vue secured a rare victory as they beat the Eastbourne Eagles 49-41 with Krzysztof Kasprzak grabbing 12 points.
Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wolves eased to a comfortable home triumph over Coventry Bees as they won out 54-39 with Tai Woffinden top-scoring with 12+1 points.
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
