Coventry Bees moved into the top-four over the weekend, but only after a last-gasp 46-43 victory over Poole Pirates.

Indeed Poole will have been thinking what could have been after a series of errors.

Hans Andersen and Chris Holder were on a 5-1 in Heat 13, and were set to send The Pirares seven-points clear with just two heats remaining.

But the Poole duo got too close and Aussie ace Holder crashed out, and then in the re-run Coventry shared the spoils.

The following heat then saw Poole captain Bjarne Pedersen touch the tapes and that allowed Coventry to claim a 5-1 and move ahead for the first time in the meeting.

Then in the final heat Coventry made sure of the win with Ed Kennett - who top-scored in the meeting with 13+1 - leading them home.

Kennett was the only Coventry man to hit double figures as Poole threatened from the off, with Andersen in fine form with 14. Reserve Ben Wilson also shone with an impressive eight points.

Coventry are into fourth as Lakeside failed to take anything from their trip to Eastbourne Eagles on Saturday as they lost 50-43.

Despite being without the suspended Lewis Bridger - who they used rider-replacement for - Eastbourne powered their way to victory.

Davey Watt led the Eagles home with 13 points, whilst guest Travis McGowan grabbed paid 12 - but the whole of The Eagles' side performed well.

Lakeside came close to a precious away point and Lee Richardson was in superb form on his former track with a perfect 15-point maximum, but the Essex side came up just short.

The win was even more impressive for Eastbourne as they had been left licking their wounds after a heavy 55-35 loss to a Danny King inspired Ipswich on Thursday.

British ace King grabbed 13+1, whilst Scott Nicholls showed some excellent form with 11+3 for the home side.

At the top end of the table Swindon maintained their lead following a comfortable 56-39 win over Belle Vue Aces at Blunsdon.

Simon Stead top-scored for The Robins with 14, whilst Patrick Hougaard was the only rider to hit double figures for The Aces.

Finally, it was second versus third at the East of England Showground as Wolves visited Peterborough.

And although The Panthers sealed a 51-45 victory, they will be disappointed to have allowed their visitors to take a point as they are just two points ahead of Lakeside and Coventry, in fourth and fifth respectively.

Ales Dryml led the home side home with 14+1, whilst Wolves had their Swedish duo Freddie Lindgren (15) and Peter Karlsson (14+1) in fine form.

The play-off picture could become clearer on Monday evening as Coventry host Lakeside - live on Sky Sports 2.
