Rossiter: Looking for signing
Swindon Robins are hoping to clinch the signing of Swedish starlet Thomas H Jonasson.
The youngster has impressed hugely during his time with Edinburgh Monarchs in the Premier League.
Now Swindon are amongst a number of interested in landing him, and Alun Rossiter is hopeful of sealing a deal.
"We'd like to sign him," said Rossiter.
""We are discussing it at the moment and have been for a little while.
"He is definitely a rider for the future and someone who we have been keeping our eyes on for some time.
"He is a rider who is sought after by a lot of top clubs and we were trying to keep everything close to our chest because of it," said Rossiter.
"In that respect we are disappointed that Edinburgh let it out on their end "We are at advanced stages of negotiations and we're close to tieing up the deal.
"Nothing's done until it's signed on the dotted line but I would be disappointed now if we did not get him.
"He's got good people around him and we've been speaking to them and to Thomas directly and we'd like to get the deal done sooner rather than later now that it's out in the open.
"I think Thomas has realised that he can't ride in Poland and Sweden and double up for Edinburgh so the move's in place now, maybe to get him on a full transfer."
However, his club Edinburgh have stressed that no deal is close.
"Swindon are amongst a number of Elite League clubs that have contacted us about using Thomas in a doubling up role in 2010," said Monarchs boss Alex Harkness.
"We have declined all approaches so far until we have decided what we will do with Thomas.
"We were due to meet him over the weekend for initial discussions when he was in this country but he returned home somewhat earlier than expected. Those talks may take place by telephone this week."
