Birmingham Brummies' new owners have confirmed they would consider a move into the Sky Sports Elite League.

The Premier League outfit have recently been taken over by Gary Patchett - who already co-owns Elite League giants Swindon Robins.

Patchett and former Peterborough promoter Mick Bratley have taken charge at Perry Barr from Tony Mole and they have been linked with a move to the top-flight.

Long-term concerns over their planning permission continue to dog Birmingham, as the local council are concerned about noise levels.

"Nothing has changed for me, I will do whatever I feel is in the best interests of Birmingham Speedway and right now we are planning for the Premier League," said Patchett.

"But I have been made aware of the possibility of the Elite League approaching us about taking Birmingham into that league which is something I would be happy to discuss.

"What it also means is that certain clubs wouldn't be in a position to hold a gun to the heads of the other clubs because nobody is willing to step in - Birmingham are ready to step in given the right circumstances."

Danish star Hans Andersen has already been linked with a possible move to Birmingham, should they move up.

The decision will be taken at next week's BSPA AGM in Bournemouth.
