Poole have dismissed suggestions they are looking to sign British number one Chris Harris.

But Piates chief Matt Ford has confirmed his interest in signing British Under-21 star Lewis Bridger - who has confirmed his intention to leave Eastbourne Eagles this winter.

Harris had been linked with a move to Wimborne Road, with reports suggesting that he could be looking for a move away from Coventry.

But Ford says he has not made any sort of move for Harris.

Former Grand Prix rider Lee Richardson would have no qualms about returning to

"I don't know where that has come from because I can clearly state I can't even remember the last time I had a talk with Chris or a member of his management team," Ford told the Daily Echo.

"I can categorically say that I haven't spoken to anyone about Chris coming to Poole.

"I don't know if he is using this as bargaining power (to try and get a better deal) because I would imagine Chris will be back at Coventry again next year as he should be.

"The Coventry fans should sleep easily at night knowing I have made no overtures to sign Chris since he was a Trelawny rider in 2003.

"He's a cracking rider, but I have never at any point since then spoken to Chris about signing for Poole.

"I'm sure it's just skulduggery, someone along the way using another club to try and unsettle things.

"I'm certainly not in the market for eight-point plus riders. I have enough of those.

"It's more the number two and four riders I clearly have an opening for."

Bridger interest

Ford did, though, confirm he was keen to land Bridger.

"Lewis is a good rider," he said.

"He is not always popular at Poole. But Lewis is one of those riders people love or hate.

"Although the word 'hate' is very strong and some people aren't keen on him, Lewis is unquestionably a tremendous talent."
