Ipswich Witches have confirmed the signings of British stars Scott Nicholls and Danny King as their first for 2010.

Nicholls is back with his hometown club, after spending the latter part of last season on loan from Coventry Bees.

Nicholls, who has missed out on next season's Grand Prix series, decided to give British racing a miss last term - but he soon went back on that decision and returned to action with Coventry, before linking up with Ipswich again.

Nicholls is joined by British international and last season's Ipswich captain King.

"This is the best possible start for our team-sheet for next season. Danny was our Rider of the Year in 2009 and in Scott Nicholls we have one of the most exciting performers in world speedway," said Witches manager Chris Louis.

Both riders are delighted to be returning to Foxhall next term.

"After a terrible season last year I felt really at home back at Foxhall and enjoyed racing there again. So much so in fact, Ipswich was top of the list for me as far as 2010 was concerned," said Nicholls.

"After spending so much time on the road the last couple of years I'm really looking forward to concentrating on and enjoying riding for the Witches. I can't wait to get going."

King added: "I'm absolutely delighted to be coming back to Ipswich.

"Last season was so enjoyable - the atmosphere in the pits was terrific and it was a real privilege to be team captain.

"I never had a thought in my mind about going to any other club in 2010."
