Pedersen: Wants title back (Pic credit Fotospeedway.pl)
Nicki Pedersen has his sights set firmly on regaining the speedway world title this year.
The Danish superstar suffered a horrendous time in 2009 with injuries hampering his Grand Prix efforts.
He ended up finishing sixth as he lost his world crown to Australian ace Jason Crump.
Pedersen has also been hurt by off-track ramifications as he has lost two big sponsors due to the current economic downturn across the world.
Further issues with salary in Russia and Poland, mean Pedersen will be more than £500,000 down on his previous income.
Despite not being up to call on his previous resources, Pedersen is fully confident he can still make a big push for the title.
"It's only my own savings that will get hit. The team will get their salaries," he told Ekstrabladet.
"You can be sure that I am determined to be world champion again.
"It gives me extra motivation to have to start with number six on my back and I am totally game for the challenge."
