King: New Ipswich skipper (Pic credit Les Aubrey)
Ipswich Witches have announced that their start to the season has been delayed as they continue to work on their Foxhall base.
The Witches confirmed plans earlier in the winter to alter the Foxhall track - primarily widening it.
But due to adverse weather, this work has been severely delayed.
The club have now confirmed that their season will be pushed back by a week in order to finish the work.
They will now start their home campaign with a challenge match against Lakeside Hammers at Foxhall on March 25.
Their season will start with a trip to Essex to face Lakeside on March 19.
The Witches have also confirmed Danny King as their captain for the new season.
"It's a great honour to be asked to skipper the Witches" said King.
"I really enjoyed being captain last season when I took over following the injury to Leigh Lanham and it's a role I thrive in.
"I know I'm a bit on the young side to be skipper but I get on well with all the other lads and I enjoy doing whatever I can to help them out on race days."
King cannot wait for the start of the new season adding: "The delayed start due to the awful weather we've been having is a bit frustrating but it's given us a bit more time in the workshop to make sure that we are really well prepared for the new season."
