The first meetings of the new 2010 took place with Peterborough and Wolves wining their home challenges.
The Panthers roared to a comfortable 56-36 win over a strong select side at the East of England Showground.
Whilst, Elite League champions Wolves will be hoping their narrow 47-43 win over Coventry is not a sign of things to come this year.
Peterborough are seen as one of the favourites for the title this year and they showed up well against a select side that included world champion Jason Crump and Danish superstar Nicki Pedersen.
The highlight was new signing Troy Batchelor, who showed his class with 13 - whilst new Polish reserve Krzysztof Buczkowski delivered a very promising paid eight return.
Niels Kristian Iversen (8), Lewis Bridger (7+2) and Kenneth Bjerre (7) all tasted victory on a very promising display for the Panthers.
Whilst Peterborough showed up well, the same could not be said for Wolves - who will be looking to put their display down to early season rustiness.
Their display was highlighted by the fact that the top-scorer failed to hit double figures with Nicolai Klindt grabbing paid ten.
Freddie Lindgren suffered an exclusion early on as he claimed 8 - with veteran Joe Screen impressing with 9 on his home debut.
The bag up was pretty solid for Wolves with Ty Proctor (7+2), Tai Woffinden (7+1), Ludvig Lindgren (4+3) and Joe Haines (3) all enjoying some success.
Coventry, though, showed they will be pushovers this term thanks to a solid display.
A number one Chris Harris claimed an excellent 14 points with Rory Schlein (9) and Ed Kennett (9) providing good back-up.
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
