Andersen: Ready for new season (Pic credit Les Aubrey)
New Belle Vue captain Hans Andersen has told skysports.com that he cannot wait for the start of the new Elite League season.
Andersen made the switch to the Manchester outfit over the winter and he will lead a new look Aces into the season.
And he admits confidence is high that Belle Vue can make a major impact this year.
"It is a new team, new season and I have done a lot of preparation in the winter and I have made a lot of changes which I think will suit me," he told skysports.com.
"One of the reasons I signed for the Aces was because they told me the riders they wanted to sign and I think they have got a really exciting team.
"And for me personally it is not about me scoring points, it is about being in a winning team.
"If you're in a winning team it becomes a habit and it affects my riding when I am riding abroad too, and it is just more fun - if you're winning meetings you enjoy it more and if I am enjoying it I ride my best."
Andersen admitted that a move to Belle Vue was something he had wanted for a number of years.
"I have wanted to go to Belle Vue for a long time now," he revealed.
"I always fancied riding on a Monday, it just makes it more suitable when you're in Poland on the Sunday and then you go out to Sweden on the Tuesday - so a Monday night is not a bad night."
Andersen was one of a band of top-level riders to quite the Elite League last year, but the Danish star admits that was an error.
"It was a big mistake last year," he said. "I looked at the guys who were just ahead of me in the world order and they didn't ride in England and I thought that would suit me.
"But it turned out the opposite and it didn't suit me and I admitted it and I am making sure I will do everything right this season."
Andersen is now looking to push on again in the Grand Prix series and get back into the world's top-five.
"I think the series is going to be very exciting, new riders who could even win a GP on their day and if I am watching a meeting it is nice to know it is a little bit more unpredictable," he said.
"Personally the public aim is that I want to be in the top-five, that will take me back to where I was before. Personally I am aiming higher, but publicly it is top-five."
