The first league meeting of the season saw Eastbourne Eagles go down to a 47-43 home defeat against Swindon Robins.

The Eagles were led by new signing Matej Zagar, who showed up well with 11 - but there was little he could do to prevent a home loss.

The Eagles' other new signing Dawid Lampart was also excellent with paid ten - but a number of falls inflicting the likes Simon Gustafsson and Lukas Dryml, cost the home side.

Swindon captain Leigh Adams started his final season in Britain in fine form with 14 - but it was their debutant Thomas H Jonasson, who shone with paid 14.

The Swedish youngster was in fine form and was handed extra rides as Simon Stead crashed out of the meeting after being injured early on.

Mads Korneliussen also weighed in with 9+1 to help pile the misery on Eastbourne.

Swindon now travel to Wolverhampton on Monday for the opening live fixture of the season.

The Robins have confirmed that rider-replacement will be used for the injured Stead.
