Belle Vue's play-off hopes suffered a huge blow as they were held to a 45-45 draw at home by Wolverhampton.
The Aces currently lie in fifth and they had hoped to close the gap on Peterborough Panthers in fourth.
But instead of collecting the three points they were looking for, they grabbed just one after being held to a draw.
Indeed, things could and probably would have been worse for Belle Vue - if Wolves had not lost Polish ace Adam Skornicki in his first race.
Hans Andersen again top-scored for Belle Vue with 14, but he had little in terms of support and that allowed Wolves to take something from the meeting.
Freddie Lindgren was their top-scorer with 11, but the real heroes for the visitors were reserves Matthew Wethers and Ludvig Lindgren - who grabbed paid ten each.
Wolves boss Peter Adams said: "I thought the boys did well and we could have won the meeting.
"Our reserves were excellent and we all gave it our best, although it would obviously have been nice to win."
Runaway leaders Poole maintained their 100 per cent home record with a comfortable 58-35 win over Coventry Bees.
It was another dominant display from the Pirates with Darcy Ward (15+2), Chris Holder (13+2) and Bjarne Pedersen (13+1) all grabbing big scores.
Coventry did have Chris Harris (12) and young Pole Przemyslaw Pawlicki (11) in good form but there rest of the side could not match those displays.
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
