Jonsson: Out of World Cup
Grand Prix stars Andreas Jonsson and Nicki Pedersen will both miss the Speedway World Cup.
Jonsson has an arm injury, whilst Pedersen has been forced onto the sidelines with a shoulder problem.
Sweden have reacted by brining in Jonas Davidsson for Event 2, whilst Pedersen is replaced by namesake Bjarne for Event 1.
"It's sad, of course, but I cannot do myself and the team justice if I do not feel one hundred percent. Doctors have said that the only way to get well is to rest," said Jonsson.
Asked how long he expects to stay on the sidelines, Jonsson replied: "Until I feel great. It may take some time now. Apparently I have inflammation and bleeding in the muscle and it needs to be rested."
Three-times world champion Nicki Pedersen is also missing out, but Bjarne Pedersen is pleased to be back in the fold.
Pedersen said: "Jan [Staechmann, team boss] wasn't going to pick me for the World Cup, but he probably changed his mind after he saw a few of my meetings.
"Of course I was disappointed with his first choice. I'm on form and I'm scoring well in all the leagues, so I couldn't see any reason for it. But he has changed it and I'm looking forward to the first round.
"I think everyone could see it was stupid that he hadn't picked me. The form I'm in now makes me good enough to be in the top five Danish riders.
"But of course, he was man enough to give me a call and say he had made a mistake. It's good for me and my sponsors to be back in the World Cup."
