Rune Holta claimed an all-the-way success in an action-packed Scandinavian Grand Prix on Saturday.
The naturalised Pole flew out of Gate 2 in the final in Malilla and pulled away to win easily from current world champion Jason Crump in second.
New championship leader Tomsz Gollob came third and home favourite Fredrik Lindgren suffered bike failure in last after making his first final of the year.
The victory was Holta's first this season and second-ever and saw the Pole jump up from sixth to fourth in the overall standings.
But the meeting was not without controversy, with Gollob the centre of a bad crash in Heat 17.
The Pole, who had won his first four heats, missed the start and tried to get up the inside of Emil Sayfutdinov but crashed straight into the unfortunate Russian.
Sayfutdinov, who was only just returning to GP racing after a broken arm, suffered a suspected broken wrist in the heavy fall which could keep him out for the remainder of the championship.
Gollob, who himself sustained injuries to his hand and foot in the crash, at least apologised to the Russian as Sayfutdinov limped from the track.
But unlike Sayfutdinov, the Pole was able to continue racing and his subsequent semi-final victory and third place finish in the final saw him open up a five point advantage at the head of the overall standings from compatriot Jarek Hampel, who reached the semis.
Earlier in racing, former world champion Nicki Pedersen crashed in his first heat and had to withdraw from the meeting, finishing with no points and dropping out of the top eight to 12th overall.
Swedish ace Andreas Jonsson moved into the all-important eighth spot after notching seven points, while Chris 'Bomber' Harris made the semis and is now just four points off eighth spot in 11th.
His young British compatriot Tai Woffinden had an evening to forget, claiming just three points to drop to 15th overall.
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
