Sayfutdinov: Season over
Russian star Emil Sayfutdinov has confirmed that he will not be riding again this year.
The 20-year-old ace suffered a badly strained wrist during Saturday's Scandinavian Grand Prix after he collided with world championship leader Tomasz Gollob.
Sayfutdinov was just returning to action after getting over a broken arm, but the latest injury means he will not return to the saddle until 2011.
A statement released by the Russian's race team read: "We sadly announce that Saturday's incident, which took place during Grand Prix in Malilla, unfortunately excludes Emil from further starts in 2010.
"After returning to Poland and carrying out detailed tests, it turns out Emil has a sprained wrist. At present, he has a plaster dressing which he will wear for approximately four weeks. After that, he will have a month's rehabilitation."
The news means that Sayfutdinov, who finished third last year, cannot now gain automatic entry back into the world championship - but it is a near certainty he will be granted one of the four permanent wild cards available for the Grand Prix series.
