Lindgren: 15-point haul (photo courtesy of Les Aubrey)
Fredrik Lindgren produced a five-ride 15-point maximum to lead the Wolverhampton Wolves to a resounding 50-40 victory over Elite League leaders Poole Pirates.
With Poole already assured of finishing the season in top spot, the win will come as a welcome boost for the Wolves ahead of the play-offs.
While Lindgren was the star of the show, he was ably supported by Tai Woffinden (12 points) as Wolverhampton maintained their superlative home record at Monmore Green Stadium.
Peter Adams' side are now unbeaten in 43 consecutive home matches stretching back over two years and this season have only surrendered one bonus point - that to Eastbourne back in July.
Poole did briefly threaten to end that sequence and closed to within two points at 25-23 after Darcy Ward won an incident-packed heat eight that saw first Jason Doyle and then Ludvig Lindgren excluded.
Fredrik Lindgren gave the hosts renewed breathing space as he won heat ten, but Poole rallied again and closed to 34-32 as Chris Holder and Ward combined for a 5-1 in heat 11.
But that would be as close as they got with Wolverhampton pulling clear in the closing stages.
Matthew Wethers and Woffinden confirmed victory with a 5-1 in heat 14 and Lindgren then completed his perfect evening in the final race of the night to send the hosts ten points clear of third-paced Lakeside in the standings.
See what has got the Sky Sports experts' tongues wagging over a busy seven days in sport.
