The British Speedway Promoters' Association have confirmed that Lakeside's meeting this Thursday will count towards the Elite League play-offs.

Thursday is the official cut-off date for the play-offs, and it was thought that only Coventry and Peterborough's matches would count as that would take them to 31 meetings - the same as Lakeside have ridden now.

Previously Lakeside had stated that they would be happy for their match on Thursday with Swindon not to be counted to the overall play-off qualification, as they would have ridden a meeting more than Coventry and Peterborough.

Indeed everyone thought that was the scenario that had been adopted by the BSPA , which at the time meant Peterborough had qualified for the play-offs after their win at Lakeside on Monday.

But now the BSPA have confirmed that Lakeside's meeting with Swindon will count, despite the fact it will have meant they have ridden more matches by the official cut-off.

Thursday meeting's are all now important with the current league situation standing as follows:

3 - Peterborough - 49 points

4 - Lakeside - 48 points

5 - Coventry - 46 points

The fixtures on Thursday are: Coventry v Poole, Peterborough v Eastbourne & Swindon v Lakeside.
