Quotes of the week
Tony O'Shea has knocked out favourite Gary Anderson to set up an all English semi-final clash with Darryl Fitton at the BDO World Championship.
Forty seven-year-old ninth seed O'Shea produced a stunning display of 'dartistry' to defeat his Scottish opponent 5-3 at Lakeside on Thursday.
Anderson only had himself to blame though as numerous missed doubles in the first half of the match allowed the Stockport thrower to open up a 3-0 lead.
Though the top seed fought back to take the fourth, sixth and seventh sets, O'Shea - who reached the Lakeside semi-finals in 2004 - closed out the match with a 15-dart leg and he insists his seniority helped.
"I have been playing a long time and three or four years ago I would have crumbled against Gary, who would have romped away. I knew he was going to come back, he always does," O'Shea said.
"But I am now made of much sterner stuff and have done my share of losing. I have served my apprenticeship.
"I'm chuffed with my win. A good win and victory over a legend like Gary, I'm made up."
Fitton came back from 4-2 down to defeat Scott Waites 5-4 in the night's other quarter-final.
Both players struggled to find the doubles in the seventh set, but the fifth seed hit a double six at the seventh time of asking to close the gap to one.
He then went on to hit double eight with his second attempt to level the match at 4-4 before picking up back-to-back 180s on his way to winning the deciding set.
