Taylor: four-time champion
World champion Phil Taylor is battling to be fit for the opening night of the Whyte and Mackay Premier League on Thursday.
The four-time Premier League champion is struggling to shake off a virus ahead of his match with Australian Simon Whitlock at the O2 Arena in Greenwich.
Taylor was unable to travel to London for Wednesday's official launch and admits he may have to drop out.
"I've been seeing a doctor since Sunday but I feel dreadful," he told Planet Darts. "I am doing everything I can to be well enough to play on Thursday because I am desperate to be at the 02 in front of such a large crowd."
Around 10,000 spectators are expected to attend the league's opening night, which will be televised live on Sky Sports HD1 from 7pm.
