Co Stompe secured his first PDC title after overcoming James Wade 6-3 in the Las Vegas Players Championship.

Stompe, who has been on the PDC circuit for two years now, played some fantastic darts as he saw off Edwin Martin, Wayne Mardle, Adrian Lewis and Steve Beaton to set up an all-Dutch quarter-final with Jelle Klaasen.

Stompe overcame his compatriot 6-4 before whitewashing Matt Clark, a surprise victor over Phil Taylor in the last eight, in the semi-finals.

Wade, the world No.3, had got off to an ideal start in the final as he took the first leg - however Stompe responded in impressive fashion as he twice hit two maximums in legs to lead 4-1.

Wade, who beat Ken MacNeil, Tony Randell, Robert Thornton, Vincent van der Voort, Simon Whitlock and Colin Lloyd en route to the final, won back-to-back legs to cut the deficit to one.

However Stompe was not to be denied as he took the next two legs to claim the £6,000 winner's cheque.
