Promising youngsters Mark Robertson, David Blair, Andrew Easson and Ryan Grant have signed new deals to stay at Edinburgh for the next two years.

Winger Robertson, 24, stand-off Blair, 23, and prop Grant, 23, have all been capped by Scotland 'A', while centre Easson, 22, has represented Scotland 7s - underlining the strength in depth of the Magners League side.

Having committed their futures, all four players now hope to help Edinburgh build on this season's second place finish in the league and fulfil their own potential at the same time.

Challenge

Robertson said: "I'm really excited about the prospect of the team challenging for trophies next year.

"We are planning to build on our success and there is no reason why we can't win the Magners League.

"Hopefully we can also do well in Europe and progress through to the knockout stages of the Heineken Cup. Everyone is really excited and we can't wait until the start of next season.

"Personally, I am hoping to become a more consistent performer next year and up the try tally. With more confidence, most wingers improve and I feel I've got a lot more to give."

Experience

Blair, younger brother of Lions scrum-half Mike, has been called into the Scotland 'A' squad for the forthcoming IRB Nations Cup in Romania, meanwhile, and hopes to learn from the experience and return to Edinburgh with a more developed skill-set.

"I'm really looking forward to the tour," Blair said. "There will be plenty of experienced guys about who I can learn from and hopefully we'll be able to do well out there.

"When I get back I will keep on pushing for the stand-off position with Phil Godman. I think Phil has been playing really well this year and I've tried to learn as much as I can when I play."
