The Australia's Rugby Union Players Association has launched an investigation into the sacking of Wallabies winger Lote Tuqiri.

Australia captain Stirling Mortlock, along with many others have called for the case to be investigated after the Australian Rugby Union refused to disclose any details as to why he was dismissed.

RUPA's chief executive Tony Dempsey said: "I have spoken to the captain of the Wallabies, and many from the Wallabies team, and they have genuine concerns about the matter in which Lote's sacking has been handled by the ARU and New South Wales Rugby Union.

"We need to create some clarity around what constitutes a termination of a contract and what doesn't."

Tuqiri was one of Australia's most influential and highest-paid players until his contract was cancelled for undisclosed reasons.

Following the voices of concern the ARU released a statement stating that any decision over an employment issue is not taken lightly, and that they will not be going into any details of the Tuqiri termination due to the threat of legal proceedings.
