New Zealand fly-half Dan Carter is expected to be named in the All Blacks team to face Wales after recovering from a leg injury.

The Kiwi damaged his calf muscle in last weekend's 32-19 victory over Australia in Tokyo and was a doubt for Saturday's clash at the Millennium Stadium.

New Zealand have delayed naming their team until Wednesday evening, when the Welsh will find out if they face their nemesis.

Carter has scored 92 points in just five appearances against Wales, with 72 of those coming during New Zealand's last four Cardiff wins in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008.

While All Blacks head coach Graham Henry has yet to officially confirm the 27-year-old's involvement, assistant coach Wayne Smith is expecting him to be available.

"Rather than a strain it's a bruise," said Smith.

"He's walking around pretty well, he'll do a managed run tomorrow as part of training then it's just a matter of getting him through to the game.

"I'd imagine he would be (available)."
