Doran-Jones: Chance to shine

We tried to sign Doran-Jones at Wasps. I think Gloucester must have made him a better offer because he was pretty quick to put the phone down to us and head off down the M4!

Lawrence Dallaglio has predicted Paul Doran-Jones will have no problem settling into the England team after admitting Wasps "tried to sign" the debutant prop.

Doran-Jones was called into the international setup after a plethora of injuries ruled out the likes of David Wilson, Phil Vickery, Julian White, Jason Hobson, Andrew Sheridan and David Barnes.

At just 24 years of age, the Gloucester man will be on the bench for Saturday's clash with Argentina, a side who boast a front row with a notoriously aggressive reputation.

Few will have seen Doran-Jones in action during his 266 minutes for Gloucester this season, but former England captain Dallaglio is in no doubt about the man's talent.

Dream

"He's a player we tried to sign at Wasps," Dallaglio revealed on Sky Sports News.

"I think Gloucester must have made him a better offer because he was pretty quick to put the phone down to us and head off down the M4!

"Judging by their league form he might be scratching his head over that decision.

"But we wish him all the best, it's everyone's dream to get picked for England and for him it's happened very quickly.

"It's not his fault he's been picked so early, he's probably a little bit nervous, but if he has any of the self-confidence that his mate James Haskell's displayed over the years, I'm sure he'll have no problem."

England v Argentina is live on Sky Sports 2 and HD 2 from 2pm on Saturday.
