Highly-rated England Saxons prop Tom Mercey has played his last game for Saracens after he was ruled out for the season.

Mercey is set to leave Sarries for Northampton in the summer - and ironically it was against the Saints that he suffered the season-ending injury.

Scans have revealed that Mercey suffered a torn pectoral muscle in the LV=Cup semi-final defeat to Northampton.

Saracens have been buoyed by news that winger Chris Wyles has only sprained his ankle and should be fit for action against Newcastle on March 28.

Schalk Brits, Kas Lealamanua, Michael Tagicakibau and Hugh Vyvyan are all expected to be fit for the Falcons clash as well, however Kameli Ratuvou has been ruled out for the next few weeks after breaking a bone in his hand.
