Leicester are anxiously waiting news on Toby Flood after he damaged his knee in the 27-19 defeat to Northampton.

The England fly-half is potentially facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after hobbling from the Franklin's Gardens pitch just before half-time.

And Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill admitted that the initial news was not good, although the club are waiting for further results.

"He has had a bang on his medial (knee ligaments)," Cockerill told the Leicester Mercury.

"We are assessing that now and he will be seen by the specialists over the next 48 hours.

"It doesn't look ideal but we will have to see. Let's not get carried away."

The loss of Flood would be the latest blow for the defending champions, who are already without Geoff Parling, Jordan Crane, Louis Deacon and Richard Blaze.
