Richards: Coaching changes

Harlequins have restructured their coaching set-up, with former player John Kingston promoted to become head coach.

Kingston, who also played for Newcastle Gosforth, Rosslyn Park, the Middlesex and London Division, England Under 23s and England B, joined the coaching set-up in 2001 and replaces Andy Friend in the role.

Academy manager Colin Osbourne, who originally joined the Quins in 1990 as backs coach, will become Kingston's assistant.

Replacing Osbourne as academy manager will be Tony Diprose, with the former Harlequins, England and British Lions No.8 promoted from assistant.

The trio will continue to work under director of rugby Dean Richards, who is confident the new set-up will reap rewards for the club.

"I am delighted that John has decided to take the head coach position, with Colin Osborne joining him in the first team and Tony Diprose taking control of the academy," Richards said.

"I am a true believer in natural progression within a club and rewarding individuals for their commitment and effort. I have a huge regard for all my coaching staff and I am looking forward to next season."
