Dwayne Peel could be fit for Sale's pre-season friendly against Leeds next month following a speedy recovery from a shoulder injury.
The Wales scrum-half, who signed a three-year deal with the Sharks at the start of the year after deciding to leave Llanelli Scarlets, picked up the injury at the end of last season and was expected to miss much of the year.
But the 26-year-old's rehabilitation is ahead of schedule and is looking forward to pulling on the Sale jersey for the first time against Leeds Carnegie on August 22.
"I can see light at the end of the tunnel and I'll be fit for the start of the season. There was doubt but surgery and rehab have gone well," he said.
"All I want is an injury-free season for club and country."
The Guinness Premiership season gets underway on the weekend starting September 5, with Sale facing a trip to Newcastle.
