Jones: Biarritz have denied making an offer for him
Biarritz have strenuously denied rumours that they are set to sign Stephen Jones from Llanelli Scarlets.
The Wales fly-half looks poised to leave Stradey Park after Scarlets chief executive Stuart Gallacher had revealed that Jones was holding talks with other clubs.
Reports in the French press and the absence of Jones from the Llanelli side to face Clermont only added fuel to speculation.
However, if Jones is set to quit the Welsh region, then Biarritz will not be his next destination - with the club's president Marcel Martin claiming no talks have been held with the former Clermont No.10.
He said: "There has been no contact whatsoever between Stephen Jones or his agent.
"That is totally false, I deny it completely.
"Stephen Jones is out of our reach.
"But as far as we are concerned, we have two fly-halves and we have made no contact with Stephen Jones.
"The situation will not change."
With Biarritz ruling themselves out of the running, Leicester are the favourites to win the race for Jones' signature.
