Danny Grewcock has been handed a seven-week suspension after the ERC found the Bath lock guilty of stamping on Ulster's Stephen Ferris.

The former England international was sent off for a stamp on Ferris' arm during Saturday's Heineken Cup clash at The Rec.

The standard suspension for a mid-range offence is five weeks but the 37-year-old's ban was extended due to his poor disciplinary record.

"After considering the evidence, the independent judicial officer, Jean-Noel Couraud (France), determined that Danny Grewcock was guilty of foul play in contravention of Law 10.4 (b) in that he stamped on the arm of Mr Ferris," a statement said on the ERC website.

"The judicial officer found that the offence was in the mid range in the level of seriousness for an offence of this type.

"Having taken into account any mitigating and aggravating factors, including Mr Grewcock's disciplinary record, the independent judicial officer suspended the player for a period of seven (7) weeks running up to and including Saturday, 13 March, 2010."

Grewcock, who was dismissed in the 32nd minute of a game Ulster went on to win 28-10, has the right to appeal the decision.

As is stands, Bath will be without the second-rower for six matches, including league fixtures against London Irish, Worcester, Saracens and Newcastle.
