Simon Danielli is not holding out much hope of a lot of game time during Scotland's Six Nations campaign.

Head coach Frank Hadden has named four wingers in his 33-man squad ahead of Scotland's opener against Wales on February 8.

The 29-year-old has made only 12 appearances in his career at Ulster so far due to a string of injuries but has been a regular starter for the Irish side over the past two months.

His performances have been enough to earn an international recall but he will have to work hard to gain a place in the side ahead of Simon Webster, Sean Lamont and Thom Evans.

Realistic

"I don't think I'll get much of a look-in, especially early on anyway," Danielli said.

"The match against Stade Francais was only my fourth game back playing and some of the other guys are playing really well - Thom Evans is on fire at Glasgow, Sean Lamont is playing well at Northampton.

"So I'll just have to wait and see what the coach does and if I am called on, I hope to take my chance.

"But being totally realistic, having been back for just four games, I can't expect to be challenging for a place."

Injuries

Danielli's season has been blighted by injury but he has shone in his sporadic appearances, including recent Heineken Cup clashes with Ulster and Stade Francais.

He added: "The games I have played this season I have enjoyed, and I have seen plenty of the ball.

"When you play well, your chances of international selection increase. Frank Hadden has phoned to find out my injury situation, with obviously us having a few injured, like Rory Lamont.

"To have played just four games and be included is really pleasing, and I am obviously somewhere in his thoughts. You never know what will happen in the Six Nations and as I am part of the squad, there's a chance I'll be called upon."
