Rathbone: Retiring
Australia winger Clyde Rathbone has confirmed he is to hang up his boots because of injury.
Rathbone's latest setback came on Saturday when he suffered a fractured eye socket and cheekbone playing for club side Uni-Norths Owls in Canberra.
And Rathbone has admitted that the injuries, coupled with a lose of desire, had led to him announcing his retirement.
The decision comes despite the fact Rathbone had a number of offers to carrying on playing following his release from the Brumbies.
Rathbone, who was capped 26 times by Australia, told The Canberra Times: "I've decided to hang up the boots, it's all over.
"I need to look after my long-term health and when I couldn't agree with any of the contracts that were in front of me for next year, I figured it would be best to step aside."
