New Connacht coach Eric Elwood has agreed a deal to bring Reds No.8 Ezra Taylor to the club.

The 27-year-old will arrive in Galway having previously played for the Highlanders in the Super 14.

Taylor is seen as the perfect replacement for Kiwi George Naoupu, who left Connacht at the end of last season to move to Japan.

The dynamic back-rower, who can also slot into the second row, was born in Brisbane but went on to represent New Zealand Schools and New Zealand Under-19s during his time in Otago.

Taylor has been playing for University in the Queensland Premier Rugby competition since the end of the Super 14 season, helping the side to top spot.
