All Blacks scrum-half Piri Weepu has admitted he is keen to talk to the Blues after contract negotiations with the Hurricanes stalled.

Weepu has been highly-critical of the Hurricanes for failing to follow up verbal interest on renewing his deal with written confirmation.

Weepu, who has been capped 44 times, has claimed Aaron Cruden, Hosea Gear and Cory Jane are also waiting to hear back from the Wellington-based franchise.

"Wellington, they're the hold up at this stage," Weepu told The Dominion Post.

"That's the only thing we've been waiting for, is to have everything put on paper. But it's taking a while and, like I said, it's been pretty frustrating having to wait for so long."

And Weepu is interested in following former team-mate Ma'a Nonu in joining Pat Lam's Blues outfit.

Decision

"Yeah I went up there and had a chat to Pat before, two years ago," Weepu said.

"So I mean if I don't really want to leave the country and things don't happen too well for me here, then that could be another option.

"I'm pretty sure that if I have the time to sit down and talk to Pat about things, I wouldn't mind having a yarn and a listen to see what he's got.

"I've been having pretty close talks with CJ [Jane]. He's a good mate of mine as well, likewise with Hosea and Azza [Cruden], to sort of see what their thoughts are.

"But at the end of the day it's up to you, your final decision. It's about what's best for you and your playing future.

"For those guys, if not being here's a better option for them, then so be it. You can't really force them to be somewhere where they don't want to be."
