Watson: Recalled
All-rounder Shane Watson has been called up to Australia's one-day squad to face the West Indies following the injury to Matthew Hayden.
Opening batsman Hayden has returned home from the Caribbean after damaging an Achilles tendon.
That has seen Watson handed a chance to cement his place in the side, with chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch believing the 26-year-old Queenslander will shine at the top of the order.
"Approximately 18 months ago we identified Shane as someone we thought could open the batting for Australia in one-day cricket and in the opportunities he has had since, he has played that role extremely well," Hilditch said.
"He also adds great flexibility to our bowling attack in this format of the game.
"Shane is an exciting young player and deserves his opportunity to return to the Australian side."
