Moores: Moving forward
Peter Moores believes England have made a big step forward in the three-match series against New Zealand, which the hosts won 2-0 thanks to victory in Nottingham.
The England coach was delighted to see each member of the side play their part in the success and feels a solid foundation is being built for the future.
"New Zealand have fought very hard. They have found themselves in positions and so have we and the difference is our lads have reacted well to those positions and played well under pressure," he said.
"It's great to see different people stand up at different times. We've found out a lot about different people. We had a settling period which I think we needed.
"The emergence of Jimmy Anderson, Stuart Broad has shown he can bat and bowl which is very important for balancing a team - we are not the finished article but we have moved forward."
Moores added that players like Paul Collingwood and Ian Bell can play themselves back into form in the upcoming one-day internationals in time for the four-Test series against South Africa later this year.
"The one-dayers have come at a good time. It's a chance for Paul - it takes over his mind, to just play the game.
"It's a chance for people to regain their form and play some enjoyable cricket."
