Kaneria: Wants to play for Pakistan
Danish Kaneria has pledged his allegiance to Pakistan after denying reports that he wanted to play for England.
The leg spinner, who has become a popular figure at Essex, has not played in a Test match this year and has featured in just 18 one-day internationals.
Kaneria was quoted by the Colchester Evening Gazette as saying he would consider playing for England if he continued to be overlooked by Pakistan.
However, he denied the report, saying: "I did not say that I wanted to stay over here (and qualify to play for England).
"I still want to play for Pakistan and my state side there - my priority is with Pakistan for as long as they need me in Test cricket.
"In fact I am always there for them in any form of the game - Pakistan has given me the name to be playing cricket in England.
"If ever Pakistan didn't select me for three to four years in a row in any form of cricket then, and only then, would I think about coming over here (on a permanent basis)."
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a successful international career, taking 220 wickets in 51 Tests, and has been in outstanding form in his fourth season with Essex, taking 24 championship wickets at an average of 24.
