Lee: Close to full fitness
Brett Lee could return to international action against Pakistan on Saturday, Cricket Australia have confirmed.
Lee was ruled out of the recent tour of South Africa following an operation on his left ankle and is yet featured in the ongoing series in Abu Dhabi.
However, a press statement from CA has revealed that the 32-year-old paceman could take his place in the Australia bowling attack for the fourth ODI on May 1.
The statement said: "Lee has spent the past fortnight in South Africa continuing his recovery from ankle surgery. He will join the squad on Tuesday."
Team doctor Trefor James added: "Lee has progressed well in his recovery from ankle surgery while in South Africa over the past fortnight.
"He will continue to train and be further assessed here.
"Should his progress be far enough advanced, he may be considered for selection in the remaining two one-day matches and the Twenty20 match."
Australia and Pakistan play their fourth ODI on Saturday and the final game of the five-match series will be played on May 3. The only Twenty20 international will be played in Dubai on May 7.
