Reeve in his playing days
Former England all-rounder Dermot Reeve has been named as coach of first-class New Zealand side Central Districts.
The 45-year-old, who moved to New Zealand in 2006, will be under contract with New Zealand Cricket (NZC) and will take over from the departing Graham Barlow on August 1.
Reeve led a dominant Warwickshire side in the 1990s, winning the Wisden Cricketer of the Year accolade in 1995, and made 29 one-day international and three Test appearances for England.
However, he caused a stir three years ago when he lost a television job after revealing he was under the influence of cocaine during commentary, later admitting to an addiction to the drug.
"I am delighted to have the opportunity to coach the Central Stags and to give my assistance to cricket in New Zealand," said Reeve, who was director of cricket at Somerset from 1997-2001.
Central Districts chief executive Blair Furlong said in a statement: "We are excited about having a coach of the experience and standard of Dermot join the Central Stags.
"It is a fantastic opportunity for the Stags and our up and coming players to be exposed to someone of his Dermot's ability."
